Democrats for the Future focuses on what actually makes progress possible, the votes in Congress. Controlling the House means setting the agenda. Senate majorities approve judicial and other nominations and can advance legislation. Our goal is to help Democrats win and maintain the congressional majorities needed to turn policy ideas into law. Every priority and issue we care about remains stuck on a shelf unless we have governing majorities with sufficient votes to pass legislation, send it to the President’s desk, and codify those priorities into lasting law.

Even if you live in a safely blue district or state, supporting strong Democratic candidates in competitive races across the country is critical because majorities are built seat by seat, and the outcome in just a handful of districts and states can determine whether the issues voters care about ever become law. By helping candidates in key battleground races, supporters can help secure the majorities needed to move legislation forward, protect voting rights, defend reproductive freedom, strengthen oversight, address cost-of-living challenges facing working families, confirm qualified judges and appointments, and prevent obstruction that stalls progress. 

For those living in districts or states represented by officials blocking action on these priorities, supporting competitive Democratic candidates outside their area is equally important, since flipping only a few seats can change committee control, restore subpoena power, and give candidates in winnable races the resources they need to communicate, organize, and compete effectively through Election Day.
